According to the decision No 638/1998/QÐ-ÐC dated October 30,1998 of the General Department of Land Administator, the Cadastre and Engineering Survey company is set up including: five production units and the company's office of the Geodesy and Cartography company No.2, four production units and the company's office of the Geodesy and Cartography company No.3 and two production units under the Geodesy and Cartography company No.1, these units have their development process since 20-30 years with lots of proud traditions and achievement, and have great contribution to the work of build and defense of the country. The Geodesy and Cartography companies No. 1, 2 and 3 (called under th e decision No.368/QÐ/TCCB dated August 31 st , 1996 of the General Department of Land Administator) have their names during different times as follows: - The Geodesy and Topography Union I, II, III (names according to Decision No.377a, 378a, 379a/QÐ dated August 1 st , 1987 of The Vietnam Surveying and Mapping Department).
- The United Enterprise of Geodesy and Cartography No. 1, 2, 3 (Decision No.145/QÐ dated September 11 th , 1992 of The Vietnam Surveying and Mapping Department). Through a long time of preparation and implementation following the Party and State's policy of innovation and rearrangement of the State-owned enterprises, the Cadastre and Engineering Survey company is established on October 30, 1998 under Decision No.638/1998/QÐ-ÐC by the Head of the General Department of Land Administrator, on the basis of open air surveying units from three former Geodesy and Cartography companies No.1, 2 and 3. Based on the Resolution No. 02/2002/QH11 dated August 5, 2002 of the Eleventh National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the first session stipulated the list of the Ministries and the Organs in the same rank with the Ministries of the Government: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is established. Based on the direction No. 01/2002/CT-BTNMT dated November 22, 2002 of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment about some immediate tasks in order to carry out the Decree No. 91/2002/NÐ-CP dated November 11, 2002 of the Government: The Cadastre and Engineering Survey company directly dependent on the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is established.
